For our friends in Singapore, there’s coaches that have drop off/pick up point at Berjaya Times Square but couldn’t confirm what’s the company of the bus. The closest search I could find is Grassland Express & Tours Pte Ltd. Here’s the photo showing coach pick up point for the hotel guest.
Parking & Rates:
There’s a few choice of parking area but please DO NOT park at the road side at the back of Berjaya Times Square area because that’s the best place to get police summons. There’s two choice of open car-park around Berjaya Times Square, one near an abandon construction building before the turn into Smart Tunnel with RM5 per-entry and another is before the main entrance of Berjaya Times Square; better known as Club De Vegas/ Infinity Wellbeing with RM8 per-entry.
Since most cosplayer need to bring heavy costume & armor, the best choice of parking is Berjaya Times Square parking itself:
Saturday, Sunday and Public holiday
First hour: RM3.00
Second hour: RM2.00
Subsequent hour: RM2
The best parking area for Berjaya Times Square is Zone C & Zone D since it’s nearer to the hotel entrance as can be seen in this parking floor plan:
One of the major issue and complaints of Berjaya Times Square is the slow elevator. Not like CF2007 which was held at the Times Square shopping mall which have service lifts as alternative, this time we need to go to the 14th floor for the Convention Center with limited elevator. The best elevator is the hotel elevator (marked A in floor plan) in The West Tower with six elevator which exclusively for hotel guest and convention goers.
The other two elevator is connected to the shopping mall which makes it slower and full almost all time. The second choice would be the The East Tower elevator (marked B in floor plan) which is at the end of the corner with rounded glass where’s most cosplayer like to have a photoshoot. The last elevator is situated directly in front of the Monorel’s entrance to Berjaya Times Square (marked B in floor plan), this elevator might be packed but it’s the best elevator that leads directly to the food court and a few fast food chains. A word of warning: not all the elevator mention will go directly to 14th floor, please be aware of the signage in the picture. By now you can guess, there’s actually only 4 elevator from the mall that’s going to the 14th floor.

Toilet? Yes, you are correct! But don’t worry, Berjaya Times Square Convention Center have a big and comfy toilet that can fit lots of people at one time. There is two toilet to your left and right of Manhattan Ballroom with lots of mirrors.
It’s hard to guest how big the hall is compared to the last CF hall in Sunway Convention Center. Manhattan Ballroom is actually divided into three, (actually there is four, another is allocated far back at another area) Manhattan I, II & III.
While we were there, there’s three event being held inside each hall which being separated with wall partition and we manage to check out two of them. I’ve been to the hall before for a dinner but they only take Manhattan I & II so it’s hard to imagine how big will it be after combining three hall.
Surprisingly there’s a lot of interesting location inside Berjaya Times Square for photoshoot with choices of indoor or outdoor lighting.
1) Hallway area: there is two hallway that have a good lighting and depth-of-field. One is on the same level heading to The East Tower near the School of Hospitality Management. Actually the school itself have preparation kitchens, pastry labs, a bakery, a culinary theatre which suitable for some cosplay themed photoshooting like ‘Antique Bakery’ or ‘Yakitate!’ but the area is off limit. This hallway have seats and artwork picture at the back with a slightly orangey light setting which works well with the carpet color.
Hallway number two is situated directly on the top of Manhattan Ballroom and on the same level as the hotel swimming pool on the 15th floor. The tone is more to natural sunlight with a mix of florescent lighting.
2) Unused Escalator area:
Situated across the Manhattan Ballroom. There’s a door that leads to an unused escalator area which can go to the 10th floor food court. It was a smoking area and not big in size but it’s a good place to get normal sunlight lighting with marble floor as base.
3) Oval area: This oval area near The East Tower is a favourite place of photoshoot for CF07, Hanabi Festival, there is many floor to choose from with a slightly blueish lighting early in the morning or near dawn because of the tinted glass but it close to normal sunlight between 10am to 3pm.
3) Berjaya Hotel Swimming Pool area:
Exclusively for hotel guest only, this area have three interesting location for photoshoot. Two fountains, two upper level that have a clear Kuala Lumpur Skyline with KLCC and KL Tower as background and the swimming pool itself.
Upper levels of the swimming pool
4) Foot Reflexology/Multipurpose Hall/Fitness Centre
Situated across the swimming pool, it not only it fits basketball and tennis court with two Japanese style mini park!
Japanese style mini park.
Hope this special sneak preview at the location of CF2010 with tips and tricks will help all the cosplayer on the day of the event. We will bring more coverage and update of many cosplay event in the future. Till then, live long and prosper…
