ICDS 2014

It’s less than a month away to ICDS which stands for International Cosplay Day Singapore! This is its 3rd year running & this year’s theme is Heroes & Villains – Your Move! International Cosplay Day is a global celebration of cosplay which is held on the last weekend of August. On this side of the world – only Singapore is having an event proper to celebrate the occasion. International Cosplay Day Singapore (ICDS) is organized by The Neo Tokyo Project.

As the title goes, the special cosplay guest each year also are of the international flavour or should I say culture. They are some of the most recognized cosplayers in the global cosplay community. For its inaugural start in 2012 ICDS had 2 special guest! The first was world renowned cosplayer Yaya Han from America, who is well known for her extremely elaborate self-made costumes. And the other was Jerry Polence. She is an international Filipina model / cosplayer based in Seattle, America. She is an ambassador for Crunchyroll. The following year 2013 saw them invite Asian Cosplay Goddess (as we know her) Alodia Gosiengfiao from the Philippines – who is such a darling as I have had the opportunity to meet her 3 times before. She is so polite & pleasant for a person with her level of ‘celebrity-ness’ that its no wonder why she is so beloved by all her fans… yes all 4.5 million of them! I kid you not – go & check out her FB fan page 🙂

This year 2014 – The Neo Tokyo Project has upped the ante & are bringing in two special cosplay guest: The first is legendary armour & costume maker Kamui who hails from Nuremberg, Germany. Words cannot explain how intricate & elaborate her crafting skills are as the final product will keep you in disbelief that she’s not a black smith? The second is Dat-Baka, a Vietnamese-Australian cosplayer who hails from Melbourne, Australia. He is a part of the familiar Team Sexy Beast & have a global following for his portrayal of sizzling hot male characters!

Another special guest returning from last year is internationally acclaimed cosplay photographer Jay Tabalante. He has produced some of the most iconic images for cosplay icons Yaya Han, Alodia Gosiendfiao, Vampy Bit Me… etc. Haven’t see his work? Go check it out: http://jaytablante.deviantart.com/
