Here are some basic photos from the brand new Jalan Jalan Japan KL located in 1 Shamelin Mall, Cheras. There was some debate which outlet is bigger so I had to go and check it out.
For more detail, check out the video so it is easier to get the idea of the layout.

Size wise, the Subang (One City Sky Park) has a large floor space, more variety per item genre and more quantity for each item genre.
However, JJJKL has the newer stuff or rather more current stuff based on just toy section. The fear of missing out on the unknown might get you thinking you must go both outlets but I think you shouldn’t fear of losing out. How would they decide which stock to send to which outlet? I’m not sure, I just know if one place is sell out more stuff than the other, that’s where I would send the new stock hehe
So I am doing my part to buy more stuff xD So that they might replenish sooner?? haha I hope so.
This outlet is a lot more ogranised than Subang. Must have learnt a lot since it’s opening hehe so it makes shopping pretty swift.
On a down side, I didn’t like the price discrepancy with some of what i bought.
Example: some toys I bought, WERE IN A BOX… it was in a box but it doesn’t mean its unopenend or that it’s in good condition or MINT in box or Brand New in Box.so friends, doesn’t it’s in a box means its MIB! Also if there is the same figure in a plastic bag, then there is another in a box (more expensive), you may want to consider your options & the possiblity
Example: The other example was, I bought an opened figure of Azunyan (in plastic bag) in Subang for RM15 and to get Mio in JJJKL, same series, same size… it was RM30. Please la don’t whack whatever price you want. Other series the figures are same price for the entire figures in the set. Please decide what you with your pricing.

A month ago, Comic Fiesta dropped the Earthbound Papas bomb on us and the fans went nuts. Then a MikuPa page was made for Miku Expo in Malaysia 2017… on the same date of 16 December 2017 with no additional information till this date – the date of the press launch!!
I already had a few questions on my mind and upon arriving at TGV 1 Utama… a few were already answered. The Q & A session with the media was good as fellow Geek writers The Hyped Geek, started of with the mother of all questions – WHY WAS THIS DATE CHOSEN FOR MIKUEXPOMY? One of the most spicy Q&A sessions at a press conference I have ever attended 😀 On another note… come one the organisers are pros & corporate giants… the questions we’rent spicy enough to say it was spicy!! haha
Anyhow, here are the sights and info gathered, followed by the official press release!
On stage was the 3 most important people of the day! Mr. Kimitaka Nishio, CEO Office Manager of Crypton Future Media, Mr. Henry Tan COO of Astro Holdings Berhad and Mr. Ng Yubin, from the eGG Network, in which I believe with be a driving & promoting force for the pre-concert activities and promotions.
So Nishio-san started off by introducing Hatsune Miku everyone.
Followed by Mr. Henry Tan & Mr. Ng.
Next the opening acts were unveiled, which were chosen by the folks at Astro. They are YouTube Sensation Ms. Chaleeda Gilbert featuring Thai Rapper Dandee and the hottest star in Malaysia Mr. Zizan Razak aka. Abang Long Fadil!
Chaleeda Gilbert, of Thai and British descent, the first international act to be signed to Rocketfuel Entertainment, Malaysia’s #1 Indie Music label. Zizan is no stranger to the average Malaysian. Accomplished comedian, actor, singer, rapper, host, TV personality and a favourite in the hearts of Malaysians.
He will be singing a duet with Miku… for the concert and we’re speculating it’s gonna be a malay song or maybe it would be Zizan’s own single “Chentaku” produced with SonaOne… that will feature Miku!! Who knows at this point 😀 haha
Tickets are priced as follows. The tickets go on sale Sunday, 8 October 2017 at 10am on http://www.myticket.asia
Details on what other pre-concert activities will be announce as time progresses.

10 Fun Facts about Hatsune Miku
- Hatsune Miku was released on 31 August 2007 and her voice was sampled from Japanese voice actress, Saki Fujita.
- Miku’s name comes from putting together the words: First(Hatsu), Sound(Ne), and Future (Miku).
- Hatsune Miku isn’t a digital persona for a real singer. She’s actually a synthesised character, called a Vocaloid. Not only is her image on stage generated by computer, but her singing voice is totally synthesised, too.
- As her voice can be synthesised, Hatsune Miku sings in multiple languages and has hundreds of thousands of songs available to date!
- None of the songs that Hatsune Miku sings and performs actually come straight from Crypton Future Media. Instead, creating her songs is a widespread fan effort, with devotees around the world using her program to write and orchestrate songs for her.
- Miku’s outfit design is partly based on a very popular synthesiser keyboard. The colours, and some of the motifs on her clothes are inspired by that instrument.
- For a “vocaloid-opera” performance called “The End”, famous Louis Vuitton designer, Marc Jacobs has created a dress specifically for Hatsune Miku.
- Hatsune Miku has worked with the biggest acts in the world, from opening for Lady Gaga, to appearing in Pharrell’s music video and singing alongside Japanese artists like Bump of Chicken and Namie Amuro.
- Hatsune Miku made television history when she was the very first virtual singer to appear on a major U.S. late night talk show, The Late Show with David Letterman on Oct. 7, 2014, as the musical guest.
- There are other characters similar to Hatsune Miku from Crypton Future Media such as Megurine Luka, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, KAITO and MEIKO. However, Hatsune Miku remains the most popular in the market and became the world’s first virtual idol.

All gamer folks are buzzing the news on cyber space since the mega announcement by leading video game platform Sony Computer Entertainment Asia! Last year we had 4 PlayStation 4 game title launches & it was such a roar. Gamers got off their couch, came to the shopping mall venues, played demos, met up with friends, picked up freebies all the way till past midnight…. it was great! Street Fighter V, Uncharted 4, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Final Fantasy XV. These midnight game launch events were certainly not “Game Start Asia” for us here in Malaysia but it was reason enough for gamers to be excited about.
So what is this PlayStation Experience? – Well basically the PlayStation Experience or PSX for short is an event that showcases the latest / newest / upcoming games for the PlayStation platforms…. PS4, PS VR, PS Vita etc. It started out in 2014 & is a yearly event held in December in America. It debuted in Las Vegas in the first year & has moved to California since. This year, Malaysia is so privileged (if not extremely fortunate), to be the selected country / city for the PSX summer. To have this event in my own country is already a privilege but to be the host for the entire South East Asia region, is yet another honour too.
So, the PSX SEA 2017, which I dub to be PSX Summer haha or PSX Asian Summer haha (syiok sendiri because I am so happy), will feature most of the fresh stuff unveiled at the recent E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) 2017. E3 is an industry-only event, which means if you’re not part of the video game industry in some way, you don’t get to go 😦 But Hey! We got PSX SEA 2017 & it’s in Kuala Lumpur so rejoice! Again I say rejoice!

July marks that we have reached the middle of 2017 and if you’re a fan of Anime – illustration, animation, character design, music composition…. Then you should be a fan of VAX! VAX is back!! Back again! VAX stands for the Visual Arts Expo. This event debut 2 years ago and has not lost a step in trying to deliver a wholistic experience of the Anime as a production… as a work of art… visual arts. On the first year they brought in Studio Gainax co-founder Hiroyuki Yamaga, Macross creator Shoji Kawamori, music artiste Aimee B, Back-On – full list here (VAX Guest Album 2015). Year 2 saw them host Mika Kobayashi, Tetsuro Shimaguchi, illustrator Itaru Hinoue, composer Oriti Shinji – full list here (VAX Guest Album 2016).
Let’s also not forget about the most unique feature at VAX (in our opinion) – SIP aka Special Interest Panel. Many events are community based, organised by community, run by community made for the community…. But so far VAX is the only one to give the fan community a voice & a stage! Fans & friends can apply for the time slots to present talks on their favourite topics: Japanese Idol Group Love Lieve, Kuroshitsuji, Gundam Saga, Pop Culture Conventions etc. As much as the special guest list is really exciting, the Special Interest Panels are really the heart & soul of VAX! (our opinon).
Here is the official press release for this year’s event! We’re just waiting now for the final schedule to start planning our visit!! How you got your tickets yet??
Expand your creativity horizon at Visual Arts Expo 2017
Visual Arts Expo 2017 returns with a new line-up of content, tailored for everyone and anyone interested in the creative arts
Kuala Lumpur: – The annual Visual Arts Expo (also known as VAX2017) is back again for the third year to spread and invite creative-minded people to collaborate and network with other content creators and the public. This year, VAX2017 will be opening its doors to the public at a new location in the heart of Selangor. VAX2017 aims to be the one-stop location for creatives to gather and present to all parties their ideas and portfolios, and find the opportunity to expand their business and services to reach into larger markets outside of Malaysia.
The expo targets an audience of school leavers, fresh graduates, young adults and entrepreneurs, and will present a wealth of content in various forms – which includes animation, comics, video games and music. These contents will then be shared with visitors, which includes creative industry players from Japan, America and Europe – and ultimately be used by these professionals as part of their own content and future projects.
“As we approach our third year, VAX 2017 will further build upon the success it has garnered from the previous two editions of the event to further connect and nurture relationships – especially between the local creative industry players, like-minded partners from overseas, as well as local audiences to showcase their talents and products under their wings.
Thanks to local successes such as Les Copaque and Lemon Sky Studios, Malaysian creative professionals are getting propelled to the world stage, and we at VAX 2017 will be supporting them with full gusto, as well as helping budding creative-content producers to showcase their talent on our own platform,” says Fazri Nuha, Project Director for VAX.

Here’s a 5th Anniversary tribute to the 45 of us who made cosplay history in Malaysia for becoming the First Ever Cosplay Contingent to take part in a large scale parade!! Why was this not posted earlier? Well mainly because it was a bitter sweet experience. Very bitter in the beginning but as time went by… only the sweetness remains. The full story of the events have not been told till now. I have kept much of it to myself for so long and this year marks the 5th Anniversary of the historical feat that till this day, has not been done again. And so I wanted to commemorate it by sharing the challenges i faced for this historical event to take place. 5 years later, it was worth it. Get ready for a LONG read.
Lots of Love,
5 years ago in February… 45 of us made cosplay history in Malaysia by being the first (and only to date) cosplay contingent to take part in the Hari Wilayah (Federal Territory Day) celebration parade. On a size scale & festivity level this celebration parade this was only second to our Merdeka Day (Independence Day) celebration parade! It was televised live on RTM (TV1) as we marched on the historical landmark Dataran Merdeka (Independence Avenue) in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Our Prime Minister was in attendance looking on as we marched past the VIP stand, presenting the team salute.
It was such an amazing opportunity & it was such an amazing once – in – a – lifetime experience! However, the road getting to that point was a huge challenge. One that has not been shared before. Also here are some photo footage that has not been shared till now.
It all started when I got a call from an event organizer whom I previously work with 2 years back. So they said, this year’s Sambutan Hari Wilayah (2012) was very close to the Chinese New Year, so because of this many communities / contingents who usually take part…. are unable to this year. “Would you like to take part in the parade & put together a contingent of cosplayers?”. My reply, “WHAT? Woah!”. To qualify, or more like look presentable in a large scale parade like this, there is a minimum number of people that each contingent should have. Since all participating teams are under manned, the minimum number of members of each contingent was reduced.
So, I was offered a spot in the 2nd largest national-pride-sake parade if I could pull together a minimum of 40 participants in my contingent. Considering the time I had in hand, which was maybe about less than 3 weeks to the date, the decision weighted heavy on me. To commit or not to commit? To take this project on or not? There was nothing to loose if I didn’t take it…. no one would know about this opportunity. But in my heart I felt that maybe since this opportunity came to me, so I should just take the challenge on. Nothing to loose but sooooo much to gain for the community if it was successful! “Optimistic doubts” of thinking that maybe, I should skip this year… & that I can do it next year. On the other side of my mind, what if there is no ‘next year opportunity’? (Wisdom from my late granny) Can I live with that? And so the conclusion was to go for it!
The ‘go for it’ actually only meant that I would be the initiator of this project, because I couldn’t make this event a success all by myself. This event requires numbers; minimum forty (40) to be exact… there is no way I can conjure that up on my own. This project is a wonderful opportunity for the community and, if done successfully, will be a wonderful achievement for the local community!! So make or break – it will be decided by the community. I just needed to make the call… & arrange all the logistics… the community (numbers) will have the answer on whether this event happens or not.
Little did I know that that was not the only thing I needed! I didn’t know what crap load of back lash I was going to get… not from the general public but from within the community itself. The very folks I want to do this for, want to burn me at the stake.
It all started with this newbie cosplayer who kept demanding to know every single detail about the ins & outs of the event – how I got the contact, who is the organiser, what do they do etc. and wanted the info straight away replied to her public post on FB. If I didn’t reply in her desired time frame, she will repost and accuse me of ignoring her questions. This is the beginning of the phrase ‘Cosplay Polis’… she goes on to attack the legitimacy of the event, accuse me of using cosplayers, embezzling of money etc. Then she continues to go further by calling up Dewan Bandaraya KL to check. Wow, so much free time!
Woman please! Firstly, if you are interested to join then just join. If you are not, then its ok, no one is forcing anyone to join. Why do you demand immediate attention & all answers to your questions when you are not interested to join in the first place? Sufficient information has already been posted for cosplayers to deliberate if they want to join the parade or not.
Secondly, you don’t organise events or even volunteer at events… why must you know everything about the ins & outs. This is the offer I got & this is the offer – as is. Cosplayers are NOT STUPID, they can read, and they can understand… if they want to join, here is the details. What is it that you are not satisfied about?
It was not the end, soon after a crossplaying senpai joins in the “Inquisition”… demanding for details. Dude, you also don’t organise event nor volunteer at events but want to make this kind of demands.
Now the newbie cosplayers bf, a famous botak photographer (now ex-bf) also gets into the picture. But his comments are even worst because in his rant he is saying stuff like I have already cheated all the cosplayers with a fake event, when the event date hasn’t even come to pass yet. Then he goes a step further by not just attacking the event, now even attacks me as a person… using words like liar, cheating cosplayers… then even attack my cosplay at events -__- Oh man. All the word-vomit from the bf… but I have a feeling it’s not all his words. The newbie cosplayer is ‘cosplaying’ as the VICTIM & pouring it all out to the bf to react & so she will not be deemed in an unfavourable light. Because if she actually did it herself… the most she would say in response to the ‘ugly’ comments would probably be “my FB account was hacked!” haha – Friends, please don’t be used by others to publicly voice their dissatisfaction – You are absorbing their bad vibes & karma into your own life ☹ There is already enough negative stuff all around us in daily life… you don’t need this! –
Now the most shocking part that hurts the most is that – we are all friends. This newbie cosplayer, the famous botak photographer bf and the crossplaying senpai, we were all knew each other well enough to yam cha. They could have PMed & asked to know about this or that, but they didn’t. They all wanted to make a public scene on social media… in a comment on the event page, in the cosplayfun FB group. This newbie cosplayer, is not just an average cosplayer – she really cosplays well & has very nice costumes because she makes them herself. I’ve helped sai kang her group photo shoot in Genting & manage some logistics. I have even invited the senpai crossplayer & her to hear their counsel on community events… then suddenly this. Wow! I never imagined such a HORROR since joining the community in 2006.
I was totally caught off guard & so damaged by this occurrence but I still needed to pull this event together! Now I only had 3 weeks to put the team together, in the midst of all this unnecessary crap. Now, as this truly a one of a kind + HISTORICAL event actually came to pass, there hasn’t been any apology or reconciliation. I get FB blocked by the newbie cosplayer & the crossplaying senpai. When I cross path with the newbie cosplayer, she pretends that she forgot who I was haha Why come to KL from Johor just to assassinate people? If I went to Johor to study and then later open a shop… the last thing I want to do is to anger the local folks -__-
Despite all this, what keeps me together and still believing Sambutan Hari Wilayah 2012 was worth all this effort is all of you! The special 45 of you who took a chance to take part in a ‘first time ever’ event, with an unknown guy in charge and for an event that could probably be ‘too good to be true’. This historical event could NOT have taken place without you all. It was all up to the call off the community and the community answered. 45 of us marched as the first time ever Cosplay Contingent at a state parade! We got the apt tee shirt for it and we got 3rd Prize place under the “Kontingen Beruniform” category!! Huhu Buffet makan for us all xD
5 years down the road the beautiful things are surely still very apparent and resonate louder than than the crap I went thru. I can’t say for everyone but I personally formed a close bond with you all. I wouldn’t trade 49* of you for the well wishes of the haters.
As I look back at all the existing footage from folks like Leena (videos), Nao (blog + photos), Sky (Blog + photos), AaronKee.com (photos), Alan Chin (photos), Whe96668 (videos), it really lifts my spirits again. Also as I revisit this footage, I remember the size & scale of this event that took place. I can see all your faces & your emotions as we share & enjoy this experience together 😀 All this encouraged me to also share my previously unpublished photos & videos. I’m a guy who likes to keep this stuff to myself because it is very special to me. Also after all the backlash I got from this… kept me from full enjoying our moments until now.
In this 5 years, I’ve seen many wonderful things happen in all your lives! Students graduating and joining the work force, cosplay competitors become competition winners, then become competition judges and then national champions to represent Malaysia; cosplayers become guest cosplayers, cosplay emcees, e-sport personality; cosplayers become famous singing artist, cosplayers join ACG bands, shy guy take on a Talk Panel at a convention, some of you get your dreams come true by either working, studying, staying in the beloved land of the rising sun – JAPAN!! Very very inspiring! Despite the enthusiasm, I also want to remember those who are no longer with us. I’m glad we had shared something special & even historical together. It may not have been so main stream with celebrity glamour but it’s uniqueness & comradely was like no other!
For some of you, I only got to meet you guys for the first time on rehearsal day and then others… I only met you for the first time on parade day!! That just blows my mind. Like minded folks with the same passion, united in purpose… can do great things! This is awesome stuff!
*49?? – There is still one other amazing thing that happened on event day. I was organising this event and focused everything on trying to meet the contingent quota and I was leading this contingent… that I forgot to consider if I had enough sai kang help if miscellaneous things happen. My fiancé (now wife) was already there running thru the schedule with me but it was not enough. Then suddenly Sky and Yuan with Narukids appear out of nowhere… at the right time on parade day. They couldn’t commit to the parade because they had things on but they came when they could. I will never forget what Sky said when I asked “Heyyy omg great to see u guys! What you all doing here” – she said innocently & truthfully – “We came to see and see if you needed help”. Those words really touched my heart because it was a total opposite of newbie cosplayer and the others. I truly need help and they sanggup to help in any way they can. So it ended up they looked after our bags which were placed on the side walk in front on Masjid Negara! These are Malaysia’s (first ever) representatives to the World Cosplay Summit Finals. They also represented Malaysia at the famous Tokyo Game Show and have took home many more 1st Place prizes thru the years! And they came to look after our bags… I was really touched… and am still touched till this day.
This is a very long post, but that’s because it’s one very close to my heart. We achieved something very special together! We were all very much united, harmonious and MUHIBAH! I believe we were a great example of what Malaysians can achieve when united and a great representation of the word COMMUNITY!! And so here is to the 49 of you, commemorating the 5th Anniversary of what was the historical-first-time-ever… one & only Cosplay Contingent for Sambutan Hari Wilayah – Federal Territory Day 2012!
