A month ago, Comic Fiesta dropped the Earthbound Papas bomb on us and the fans went nuts. Then a MikuPa page was made for Miku Expo in Malaysia 2017… on the same date of 16 December 2017 with no additional information till this date – the date of the press launch!!
I already had a few questions on my mind and upon arriving at TGV 1 Utama… a few were already answered. The Q & A session with the media was good as fellow Geek writers The Hyped Geek, started of with the mother of all questions – WHY WAS THIS DATE CHOSEN FOR MIKUEXPOMY? One of the most spicy Q&A sessions at a press conference I have ever attended 😀 On another note… come one the organisers are pros & corporate giants… the questions we’rent spicy enough to say it was spicy!! haha
Anyhow, here are the sights and info gathered, followed by the official press release!
On stage was the 3 most important people of the day! Mr. Kimitaka Nishio, CEO Office Manager of Crypton Future Media, Mr. Henry Tan COO of Astro Holdings Berhad and Mr. Ng Yubin, from the eGG Network, in which I believe with be a driving & promoting force for the pre-concert activities and promotions.
So Nishio-san started off by introducing Hatsune Miku everyone.
Followed by Mr. Henry Tan & Mr. Ng.
Next the opening acts were unveiled, which were chosen by the folks at Astro. They are YouTube Sensation Ms. Chaleeda Gilbert featuring Thai Rapper Dandee and the hottest star in Malaysia Mr. Zizan Razak aka. Abang Long Fadil!
Chaleeda Gilbert, of Thai and British descent, the first international act to be signed to Rocketfuel Entertainment, Malaysia’s #1 Indie Music label. Zizan is no stranger to the average Malaysian. Accomplished comedian, actor, singer, rapper, host, TV personality and a favourite in the hearts of Malaysians.
He will be singing a duet with Miku… for the concert and we’re speculating it’s gonna be a malay song or maybe it would be Zizan’s own single “Chentaku” produced with SonaOne… that will feature Miku!! Who knows at this point 😀 haha
Tickets are priced as follows. The tickets go on sale Sunday, 8 October 2017 at 10am on http://www.myticket.asia
Details on what other pre-concert activities will be announce as time progresses.

I wanted to end with this joke! For all the friends & fans out there who call Miku their WAIFU, take a good look at Nishio-san, because he could be the closest you get to a LEGIT ‘uncle’ in this sense xD haha I had a great time.
Thanks to Astro and Crypton Future Media for having us and for making Miku’s concert in Malaysia a reality! – The Captain –

10 Fun Facts about Hatsune Miku
- Hatsune Miku was released on 31 August 2007 and her voice was sampled from Japanese voice actress, Saki Fujita.
- Miku’s name comes from putting together the words: First(Hatsu), Sound(Ne), and Future (Miku).
- Hatsune Miku isn’t a digital persona for a real singer. She’s actually a synthesised character, called a Vocaloid. Not only is her image on stage generated by computer, but her singing voice is totally synthesised, too.
- As her voice can be synthesised, Hatsune Miku sings in multiple languages and has hundreds of thousands of songs available to date!
- None of the songs that Hatsune Miku sings and performs actually come straight from Crypton Future Media. Instead, creating her songs is a widespread fan effort, with devotees around the world using her program to write and orchestrate songs for her.
- Miku’s outfit design is partly based on a very popular synthesiser keyboard. The colours, and some of the motifs on her clothes are inspired by that instrument.
- For a “vocaloid-opera” performance called “The End”, famous Louis Vuitton designer, Marc Jacobs has created a dress specifically for Hatsune Miku.
- Hatsune Miku has worked with the biggest acts in the world, from opening for Lady Gaga, to appearing in Pharrell’s music video and singing alongside Japanese artists like Bump of Chicken and Namie Amuro.
- Hatsune Miku made television history when she was the very first virtual singer to appear on a major U.S. late night talk show, The Late Show with David Letterman on Oct. 7, 2014, as the musical guest.
- There are other characters similar to Hatsune Miku from Crypton Future Media such as Megurine Luka, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, KAITO and MEIKO. However, Hatsune Miku remains the most popular in the market and became the world’s first virtual idol.
Here are the official photos of the performers for this inaugural IDOL event!! We still don’t know the order of the line up or what songs they are going to perform but I guess you would have to buy a ticket to check it out? haha
Well if you still haven’t got your tickets don’t forget to get them from the special Comic Fiesta link for promo prices! Here is the link http://bit.ly/2kx8qyG Currently all the Upper Arena & VIP tickets have been sold out… so only the Normal (Lower Arena) tickets are left 🙂 So if you still want to get tickets… it’s now!!
Some advice for all the performers & would be performers:
- On becoming a star – it could happen to anyone, so why not you 🙂
- But it’s not going to be easy, it’s hard work & perseverance in your craft
- And even if you do become a star, it’s still hard work & perseverance in your craft
- Haters will always be there regardless if you’re a star or not.
- It’s never a bad thing to be courteous, polite & humble… even when you become a star!

Just posting a video because I was very excited to unboxing of my Marvel Legends Captain America shield by Hasbro aka ‘The Plastic’ version. This is shield is 24″ or 60cm in diameter and is made of composite plastic.
As you may know I’ve been a big fan of Captain America since reading the comics in the 80’s. There never has been enough decent collectibles let alone affordable until the emergence of the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Captain America. *tears of joy* Finally they got it right! (mostly there) Compared to the others… the others didn’t exist lah! hehe
I’ve seen those Rubies & Disguise stuff… very affordable. Then I’ve seen the King Arts & custom made shield by TheRPF folks. All were good but of course you get what you pay for. So finally there is a mid range priced shield from the licensee who had the license to create it ALL THIS WHILE (but didn’t) till now. So I’m gonna check it out! Anyhow cheap was not “THAT” cheap any… I needed 2 installments to purchase this!
So here is a short review & comparison to other budget Captain America shields.
Here are the scenes from this past weekend which was the official collection date of the Batman v Superman Run Malaysia it was pretty exciting as I got to see the hype & anticipation for this event when the participants came pouring in over 2 days to pick up their goodies! This is the first official DC Comics run event in the Klang Valley. Last year the folks in Penang got the first with the Justice League Run Penang.
We are expecting about 3,000 – 4,000 runners this Sunday and I think that is certainly an impressive number out. Much love for #TeamBatman and#TeamSuperman…. though secretly the Captain is for #TeamWonderWoman!
It’s just hours away to the debut of the event Cosplay Corner! This is a first time event but it’s not the first event that the organisers are put. Personally I was not for the idea of them after they debut their successful 3DS Corner just last year. It’s pretty quick to embark on a new genre… especially one that’s already been very saturated!
After a short chat with the event director it was clear that Cosplay Corner was not going to be yet another “All in One” ACG event. It’s fundamental design is one that is very close to our heart here at Cosplay-Fun too! “A cosplay centered event to enjoy with friends and fans”.
When the Captain first started cosplaying in 2006, there were no MEGA* events yet except for Comic Fiesta who drew a crowd of 6,000+ folks over 2 days (please correct me if the number is wrong). Events back then were smaller, cozy and had enough space for cosplayers to mingle… chit chat. Avid cosplayers & photographers will know what I’m talking about.
*by mega events – we mean ACG events that can pull in more than 1,000 in attendance*
So we are really excited about Cosplay Corner because it is intentionally designed to be a “cosplay centered” event. Cosplay competition, cosplay market, cosplay performance, cosplay tutorials, cosplay photo competition… even cosplay emcees!! = COSPLAY CENTERED event! 🙂 So with the organisers being gamers at heart + coincidental event date – they are parking the 3DS Gathering 2016 x Pokemon Go Launch at the Cosplay Corner event… at absolutely no extra charge to the entry fee!

Pokemon Go Launch Party! (blog post here)
There is a very nostalgic “humble begins / origins” vibe to it! It’s feels like it’s going to be a place to cosplay with fans & friends… as well as have the chance to meet and make some new ones too!
One of the things Cosplay-Fun always wanted to do was to have cosplay-centered event. This is so lacking in events today which usually opt for the “all in one” event concept style. The other irony is that, for the ACG pop culture genre that is the most visually impressive, crowd pulling and has magic like charisma… it doesn’t get their centered event or rather is NOT the highlight of their own event. And to a certain extend cosplay gets snubbed too at some mega events.
Is the “all in one” better than the “centered” event? We can’t say for sure. Maybe after we’ve organised a mega “all in one” event & a mega “centered” event we can give you some feedback. One thing we can say however, is that if your event is literally your own baby aka brain child, then you should stick to vision / goal in which you set out to achieve.
To all pop culture event organisers out there, keep up the good work! Event organising is a tough job. It’s not meant for everyone… and not everyone who is in it survives for long. Have a good 2nd half 2016!

Yes… yet another Pokemon GO event! But wait… we’re calling this one legit because it’s the only event we’ve seen so far that’s “GIVING OUT OFFICIAL LICENSED STUFF!” haha actually it’s much more than that.
On FB we can see a few local radio stations taking turns organising gatherings at KLCC park… and a few other entities starting to do the same. So far none are doing anything more than just cashing in on the initial hype of this fad & calling for people to gather. So, it’s safe for us to say that this Pokemon GO (Community) Launch Party is the first of it’s kind.. and organised by the local gaming folks! They’ve got sponsors giving out licensed plushies… giving out gaming stuff… and tee shirts too! If that’s not a legit game launch party then we don’t know what is!!
*As event organisers ourselves, we can tell you that no one will give you such nice goodies on one weeks notice so it means they must have gambled to prepare for a launch if Pokemon Go did make it to Malaysia!* Good foresight guys!*
Whats the hype?
– over 100 lure modules ready for the event
– 3 Poke Stops with in 100 meters radius of the event area.
– Pokemon Team / Theme cosplayers
– Catch them All contest
– Mascot Photo Lucky Draw
– Creative Photo Contest
– Highest CP Contest
– Official Licensed Pokemon merchandise
– Official Licensed Pokemon gaming stuff
– Comic Fiesta special merchandise

Cosplay competition, cosplay market, cosplay performance, cosplay tutorials, cosplay photo competition… even cosplay emcees!! = COSPLAY CENTERED event! 🙂
